New Delhi: India secured a berth in the finals after the semis against England got washed out in Sydney. India will now take on the winner of the second semifinal scheduled to be played between South Africa and Australia. The finals will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 8

While India made it to the last four after securing pole position in Group A with four straight wins, England on the other hand made it to the semifinals of the back of ending as the runner-up in Group B. When the two teams last met the World Cup in 2018 , England beat India in the semifinals.

The sub continent giants would look to overturn their poor record against England which has seen them losing five out of five games in the past editions at the showpiece event.  However, in the recent tri-series before the World Cup, India had managed to defeat England and thus would want to take confidence from that win in Thursday's game.

It is not very good news for English team and their fans as it continues to pour at SCG.. If things remain the way they are and the game does not start at the cut off time at 11:21 (IST), then the semifinal will be called off and Indian will progress to the finals (owing to being Group A Winners)
