BCCI Planning To Host Pink-Ball Test In Upcoming India-Sri Lanka Series: Report

At the moment, considering the possibility of a change in the India-Sri Lanka series schedule, BCCI is considering to conduct a day-night test.

IND vs SL: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning for Team India's first day-night test this year. One of the matches in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka is expected to be played with the Pink Ball, a report in TOI said. Quoting an official source from the BCCI, the report said that the board is considering having a Pink Ball Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.

Sri Lanka will be touring India in the last week of February. 3 T20s and 2 Tests will be played between the two countries from February 25 to March 18, The first Test match is scheduled to be played from February 25. However, there is a possibility of a change in this schedule, as the Sri Lanka board wants the T20 series to be held before the Test series.

TOI quoted a BCCI source as saying, "There is a possibility that the tour will start with T-20 matches. The first two T-20 matches could be held in Dharamshala. The third T20 may be scheduled in Mohali. Lucknow, for the time being, does not feature in the list of venues for T20. There are also plans for a pink ball test but it cannot be held in Mohali due to dew. However, the BCCI is monitoring the Covid situation in the country. Soon the entire changed schedule will be out."

As per the original schedule, both the Tests between India and Sri Lanka are scheduled to be played during the day. Sri Lanka is scheduled to play the first test at the beginning of the India tour at M. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru and the second at Mohali. But at the moment, considering the possibility of a change in the schedule, the BCCI is also considering to conduct a day-night test. But owing to the presence of dew at night in Mohali, the Test scheduled in Bengaluru may be changed to day-night.

Ind vs SL 1st Test: February 25, Bengaluru
Ind vs SL 2nd Test: March 5, Mohali
Ind vs SL 1st T20: March 13, Mohali
Ind vs SL 2nd T20: March 15, Dharamshala
Ind vs SL 3rd T20: March 18, Lucknow
