'Earned Right To Fail When...': David Warner Backs Under-Fire Virat Kohli

India vs South Africa: Virat Kohli is expected to return and lead team India in the upcoming Ind vs SA 3rd Test match, starting on January 11 in Cape Town.

New Delhi: Team India's red-ball skipper Virat Kohli's ongoing lean patch has led to fans and cricket pundits have their say and discuss about the star batter's 'century drought' for two straight years in international cricket. However, Australia's hard-hitting opener David Warner backed the RCB skipper, saying "you are allowed to fail".

“A lot of people talk about Virat Kohli's form over the last couple of years. We have gone through a pandemic. He has just had a baby. We only see how well he has done. You are allowed to fail. You are allowed to fail. You have earned the right to fail when you are so good at what you do. People say Steve Smith doesn't score a century in his fourth innings because stats say he scores a century every four innings. He is human. You are allowed to have a rough trot. That is why there are a lot more pressure on those guys. But would not feel the pressure, I guarantee that,” Warner said during his conversation with journalist Boria Majumdar on Backstage with Boria.

Virat Kohli is currently part of team India, playing against South Africa in the three-match Test series.

South Africa led by Dean Elgar won the Ind vs SA 2nd Test by 7 wickets to level the series 1-1. Earlier, India won by the series opener by 113 runs at Centurion.

Virat Kohli was ruled out of the 2nd Test due to a stiff back in which India were defeated by Proteas by 7 wickets. Virat was replaced by KL Rahul as India's skipper in Ind vs SA Johannesburg Test. Virat is expected to return in the Ind vs SA 3rd Test match starting on January 11 in Cape Town.
