IND U19 vs PAK U19, ICC World Cup Semis: India Trounce Pakistan By 10 Wickets To Enter Finals

After the Indians bowled out Pakistan for paltry 172 runs, they chased down the target with relative ease as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena powered the chase in just 36 overs.

New Delhi: Defending champions India trounced arch rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first semifinals of the ICC Under 19 World Cup played at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom and secured a berth in the title clash. After the Indians bowled out Pakistan for paltry 172 runs, they chased down the target with relative ease as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena powered the chase in just 36 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal continued with his brilliant run of form in the tournament scoring a belligerent ton. Meanwhile Divyash Saxena lent good support to Jaiswal with a well compiled 59. The Indian opening duo was relentless in their pursuit tonking the Pakistani bowlers to all corners of the Park with some lusty blows. The win was also India's fourth straight victory over their sub continent rivals in the showpiece event. India reached their 7th final in all at the showpiece event. India will take on the winners of the second semifinal to be played between New Zealand and Bangladesh, which will be played on Thursday. The finals will be played on Feb 9.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan were on Tuesday all out for 172 batting first in their big ticket semi-final against India at the ICC U19 World Cup. Fast bowler Sushant Mishra was the highest wicket taker for India with three scalps, which included Pakistan captain and top scorer Rohail Nazir.

Pakistan lost two wickets in the first 10 overs which put the breaks on their scoring rate. Mishra dismissed opener Mohammad Huraira in the second over after which Fahad Munir fell to Ravi Bishnoi in the ninth. Opener Haider Ali and Nazir held for nearly 19 overs before the former fell to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Pakistan's scoring rate hardly improved despite the presence of Nazir at one end as wickets fell on the other. Qasim Akram was runout thanks to an almighty mixup which resulted in both batsmen at the same end of the pitch. Mohammad Harris then fell in the 35th over to a brilliant take by Divyaansh Saxena at deep square leg off Atharva Ankolekar. Kartik Tyagi then dismissed Irfan Khan while Bishnoi got his second wicket of the day in the form of Abbas Afridi. Mishra then dismissed Nazir on 62 off 102 balls after which Tyagi struck again by dismissing Tahir Hussain. Mishra wrapped things up with the wicket of Aamir Ali.
