Saudi Pro League 2023-24: Cristiano Ronaldo To Serve One-Match Ban And Fine For Obscene Gestures Vs Al Shabab

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a fine and ban for his obscene gestures during a league fixture in Saudi Pro League. Here are the details.

Saudi Pro League: Al-Nassr's talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a one-match ban and a fine of 30,000 Saudi Riyals (6.63 lakh in Indian Rupees) after the Portuguese forward was caught making obscene gestures in Al Nassr's Saudi Pron League fixture against Al Shabab. The ban has been handed by the Saudi Arabia Football Association (SAFF) and was officially confirmed on February 29. The ban now sees the top scorer of the club miss their league fixture against Al Hazem on Thursday, February 29.

Al Shabab hosted Al Nassr in their Saudi Pro League Matchday 21 Fixture on Sunday, February 25. The hosts were already languishing in the bottom half of the table and stood a slim chance of pulling off an upset. However, after Cristiano Ronaldo had put Al Nassr ahead with yet another penalty this season, Yannick Carrasco pulled one back on the brink of the half to make it 1-1.

Star player Anderson Talisca restored the lead for the visitors, but Carlos had his own plans and made it 2-2. However, Al Shabab counldn't stop Talisca, as the in-form Brazilian bagged a brace by scoring the winning goal late in the game to snatch a 3-2 win.
