Premier League 2024/25: Bournemouth Stun Arsenal To Hand Them Maiden Defeat Of The Season

Bournemouth beat Arsenal: The Gunners have suffered their first defeat of the season across all competitions, and can go further behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the league. Read below.

Bournemouth beat Arsenal: Bournemouth have done what no other side has managed so far this season, that is, beat Arsenal, as 'The Cherries' have defeated 'The Gunners' 2-0 at home in their Premier League 2024/25 fixture. With the defeat, Arsenal are at risk of letting Liverpool and Manchester City widen the gap between them in the points table, given, if both sides end up winning their respective fixtures on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's men never looked like gaining an upper-hand on the home side, as they looked tired. This can be due to the reason that majority of their squad was coming off the October international break, which enevtually reflected upon their performance.

Things went from ordinary to bad, as star defender William Saliba was shown a straight red card after VAR intervention, as his foul on Evanilson was re-checked.

Arsenal are having a troublesome time with disciplinary issues in the league this season, as William Saliba now joins the likes of Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard as the players who have received a red card this season.

The disadvantage of having 10 men on the pitch ultimately proved to be costly as goals from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert helped the home side register a memorable win.

Manchester City Remain The Only Side 'Unbeaten' This Season

With Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest earlier in the season, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are the only unbeaten team in the league this season.

Not only in the Premier League, but Manchester City are also unbeaten across all competitions this season, with their last competitive defeat coming at the hands of city-rivals Manchester United in the 'All-Manchester Final' of the FA Cup 2024, where they were stunned 2-1 by Erik Ten Hag's men at the Wembley Stadium.

The reigning champions of the league are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers, a side that has shocked the Cityzens on a few occasions in the past seasons, and can potentially face their maiden defeat of the season.
