NUFC Vs MCI, PL 24/25: Newcastle United have put on a stunning display at their fortress against reigning league champions Manchester City, as the Magpies play out an entertaining stalemate at St' James' Park, as the match ends 1-1 at full-time whistle.

It was a frustating evening for Pep Guardiola's men, as they have endured yet another injury concern in the form of Erling Haaland, as the star player recieved a knock on his left ankle during the first-half.

Eddie Howe is the happier manager out of the two, with his side now rising up to 5th in the Premier League table, but will be going down as both, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion are playing each other today.

Newcastle United Vs Manchester City, Premier League 2024/25 Matchday 6 Fixture HIGHLIGHTS

It was an evenly-contested start to the match at St. James' Park as both sides produced good amount of chances in the first 15 minutes. However, the hosts started controlling the tempo of the game, as Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan made several errors which could have proved costly.

Pep Guardiola's side hardly had a sniff of Newcastle United's box, as the output of the final-third were constantly failing to produce a piece of individual brilliance.

The deadlock was though, broken by the visitors, as Jack Grealish did exceptionally well to hold the ball on the left side and his pass was met by full-back Josko Gvardiol, who cut-back inside and nutmegged Sandro Tonali to slot the ball in the far corner to make it 1-0 for the Premier League champions.

It ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors at half-time but were provided with another injury scare, as Erling Haaland was seen bleeding off his left ankle and was limping oftentimes in the aftermath of the challenge from Dan Burn.

The second-half was complete opposite to that of first-half, as the home side were attacking right from the word go, and the visitors were all over the pitch, spaces uncovered and through balls coming in.

The pressure eventually paid off, as Newcastle United were awarded a penalty, which was calmly converted by Anthony Gordon in the 58th minute.

Last 10 minutes produced goalkeeping heroics from Nick Pope as he denied the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva to grab a winner, and the match ended in a draw, as Manchester City can lose their grip on the top spot if either of Arsenal (need to win by 3 goals or more) and Liverpool manage to win today in their respective fixtures.
