Mohun Bagan SG Vs Punjab FC: José Francisco Molina's side keep their title defence alive, as Mohun Bagan SG avoid a scare agianst Punjab FC by ousting the latter on penalties in an entertaining quarter final fixture of the 133rd edition of Durand Cup. The game ended 3-3 in regular time, and Vishal Kaith's heroics saw him make 2 saves, and with that, Mohun Bagan SG now progress into the semi finals after a 6-5 win in the penalty shootout.

Mohun Bagan SG Vs Punjab FC — As it Happened

Mohun Bagan started off on the wrong foot, as they conceded a penalty inside the first 15 minutes, and the spot kick was comfortably converted by Luka Majcen to give Punjab FC a shocking lead.

However, constant pressure from Mohun Bagan SG paid dividends as they managed to equalise inside the first half via a 44th minute goal from Greg Stewart.

The second half proved to be extremely chaotic as the period saw 4 goals flood in (two each from both the sides), and at full-time whistle, it ended 3-3. 

As there is no concept of extra time in the Durand Cup, the match went straight to penalty shootout, where, Vishal Kaith proved to be extremely decisive for Mohun Bagan SG as he made two saves, and the 'Mighty Mariners' won the shootout to progress into the semi finals.

Norberto Ezequiel Vidal was awarded the Player of the Match, but his efforts went in vain, as Punjab FC have now crashed out of the competition.
