Manchester City Vs Brentford Premier League 2024/25 | As It Happened
The home side were left shell-shocked and so were their fans, as Brentford scored the fastest Premier League goal of the season, with them needing just 22 seconds to achieve a historic feat. With the goal, they handed Manchester City an unwanted record, as the Cityzens have now conceded the quickest ever goal at home in their Premier League history.
The early stutters did not affect Manchester City's positive intent, as both sides kept each other's defence on toes, but it was in the 19th minute the moment of difference came, as City's talisman, Erling Haaland, thumped in a beautiful effort off his weak foot on the half-volley first time to the left of the Brentford keeper.

The beautiful effort from Erling Haaland was followed by even more beautiful second goal, as Manchester City keeper Ederson attained a rare assist, as his ball met the Norwegian, who chipped his effort outside the box over the Brentford keeper to make it 2-1 in the 32nd minute, and at half-time, Manchester City walked in with a one-goal lead.

The second half saw both sides being frantic at the back, but the final third proved to be wasteful up front, as neither sides could capitalise on the number of chances presented. Erling Haaland missed out on a piece of history, as he was extremely unlucky in not getting his third goal of the evening, as if he had scored a hat-trick tonight, he would have become the first player in the history to score a hat-trick of Premier League hat-tricks (3 hat-tricks in 3 consecutive Premier League games).
Savinho, Kyle Walker, Josko Gvardiol, and Ilkay Gundogan, all came agonisingly close to score Manchester City's third goal of the day, but at the full-time whistle, it ended 2-1 in favour of the home side.
