Raphael Varane Retires: The ex- Real Madrid and Manchester United star has hung up his boots aged 31.

Raphael Varane Retires: Raphael Varane, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United defender, has annnounced his retirement from footbal on September 25 (Wednesday). Notably, Varane was all set to play for Como in Serie A but suffered an injury during Copa Italia match. The 31-year-old star did not play for the Italian club since then.

Varane played for France in international football and represented the country in 93 matches from 2013 to 2022. He played a pivotal role in the team's 2018 FIFA World Cup triumph in Russia while also being central to their team's campaign four years later in Qatar where Les Bleus finished as the runners up.

Varane To Remain At Como But In A Non-Playing Role

In an elaborate note on Instagram, Varane said that although he would remain at Como, it would be in a non-playing role.

"I have fallen and risen a thousand times, and this time, it’s the moment to stop and hang my boots up with my final game winning a trophy at Wembley," Varane wrote in a post on Instagram.

"I have no regrets, I wouldn't change a thing. I have won more than I could have even dreamed of, but beyond the accolades and trophies, I am proud that no matter what, I have stuck to my principles of being sincere and have tried to leave everywhere better than I found it."

"A new life begins off the pitch. I will remain with Como. Just without using my boots and shin pads. Something I am looking forward to sharing more about soon," Varane said.
