England Confirm Euro 2024 Squad, Omit Manchester United Veteran

Euro 2024: Manchester United veteran, who was a key part of the squad in Euro 2020, is now not even a part of the English squad. Here are the details.

Euro 2024: England have announced their final squad for the Euro 2024, and have omitted few names out of their final squad, which were earlier in the pre-season squad. One of the most famous omissions is that of Manchester Uniteddefender Harry Maguire, who previously played a key part in the side's run to the final in Euro 2020. The omission comes in as a huge surprise as Harry Maguire enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 season with the Red Devils.

"The final England men's senior squad for UEFA EURO 2024 has been named by manager Gareth Southgate. The Three Lions head to Germany next week and the final 26-man group for the tournament has been selected ahead of their last preparation game against Iceland at Wembley on Friday evening," said England Football in an official statement released.

"Southgate had picked a 33-man training squad in May, with the group meeting up last week ahead of the game with Bosnia and Herzegovina at St. James Park last Friday. And the final group will now take on Iceland before they travel to Germany on Monday 10 June ahead of their opening EURO game with Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday, June 16," it added.

Harry Maguire's Reaction On Omission From English Squad

"I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer. Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted. For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys. Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season," said Harry Maguire in a post shared on his offficial 'X' account.
