Defensive Scare For Man United As Lisandro Martinez Incurs Injury In Victory Over West Ham
Lisandro Martinez suffers yet another injury and potential lengthy lay-off period. Read below.
Manchester United Vs West Ham United: Manchester United have breathed some fresh air into their dismal 2023-24 season, as the club has gone over a month undefeated by being on a near perfect run (winning every but one match, that being a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspurs on January 14). They were last defeated by Nottingham Forest in their Premier League fixture at The City Ground in Nottinghamshire on December 30, as the club lost 2-1.
Fast forward a month and few days, United have find themselves clicking in the final third as Rasmus Hojlund is finally amongst the goals and Alejandro Garnacho is finding his consistency too. The defensive performaces have been a bit par for now but have fared well enough to ensure maximum points from each fixture.
Yet Another Injury For 'Butcher' Lisandro Martinez!
However, United faitful are now afraid as their star defender and FIFA World Cup 2022 winner with Argentina, Lisandro Martinez, who already came in after a lenghty lay-off period due to injury, was once again injured, as 'The Butcher' was seen limping off the field, before being subbed off for Frenchman and FIFA World Cup 2018 winner, Rafael Varane, in the 71st minute.
In the post match press-conference, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag, who was seemingly pleased and delighted with his side's 3-0 victory over West Ham United, was highly concerned for the Argentinian, as the former Ajax manager labelled the injury as not a good one and further indicated another lay-off period for the centre-back.
