Bengaluru FC Ropes In Renedy Singh As Assistant Coach On Three-Year Deal

Singh was an assistant coach for FC Pune City between 2015-2016 and then went on to join NEROCA FC as Head Coach in 2019.

One of the top football clubs of India, Bengaluru FC on Friday roped in former Indian midfielder Renedy Singh as their assistant coach on a three-year contract. Earlier, Renedy worked as the assistant coach and interim head coach for East Bengal, and will now be a part of Simon Grayson’s team for the 2023-24 season.

“This is a club that raised the standards of professionalism in Indian football, and I’m keen to play a part in their journey over the coming years,” said Singh.

“I’m looking forward to joining the team in preseason and working our way towards what will hopefully be another successful season.”

Before hanging up his boots in 2015, Renedy had played for several top clubs including East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan AC and Shillong Lajong. The former India skipper made 72 appearances for India between 1998 and 2011 and also played for the side that won the SAFF Championship (2005, 2011), Nehru Cup (2007, 2009) and AFC Challenge Cup (2008).

Singh was an assistant coach for FC Pune City between 2015-2016 and then went on to join NEROCA FC as Head Coach in 2019. After joining hands with East Bengal as an assistant coach in 2020, he was then appointed interim head coach for a short period during the 2021-22 campaign. During his playing days, as a midfielder, Singh won many honours and is a four-time Hero I-League winner, two-time Federation Cup winner, and also won the Hero Super Cup.

Talking about the Indian football team, the Sunil Chhetri-led side won the 9th SAFF Championship title after outplaying Kuwait in penalties in a nail-biting final match. India beat Kuwait 5-4 in penalties after both sides were level at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
