UEFA: The biggest prize in football after the World Cup is the Euro Cup. The tournament that was scheduled to be played in June last year was shifted to June 12, 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The final of this 51-match event will be played at the Webley Stadium in London on July 11, 2021. There will be 11 venues across 11 European nations that will host the Euro 2020.
Overall, 24 teams will be participating in the competition. North Macedonia and Finland will be the teams that would be entering the competition for the first time. On the other hand, Germany will be entering their 13th competition.

The 24 nations will be separated into 6 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams from each of these six groups go ahead in the knock-out stage directly, while four 3rd placed teams also qualify based on goal difference.
The first match will be played between Turkey and Italy on June 12 at 12:30 am IST.
Defending Champions Portugal will be the tournament favorites along with Germany, France, Italy, and also England. It would be interesting to see which teams qualify for the knockout stages. Will there be any surprises this year?
UEFA Chairman Aleksander Čeferin cleared any possible hindrances that could come in way of the tournament. The tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19. Čeferin cleared the air on the situation surrounding Covid, he said: "Vaccination has started and I think we will be able to have full stands in the summer. For now, the plan is to play in all twelve countries. Of course, there are backup options in case a country has a problem. We are ready to organise competitions in eleven, ten or nine cities... and even only in one country, if necessary. However, I am 99.9 percent sure that we will have the European Championship in all twelve cities, as planned."
