'Don't Leave Us In Chaos': Afghanistan Cricketer Rashid Khan's Appeal To World As Taliban Offensive Increases

Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan on Tuesday took to Twitter to make an emotional appeal to the world leaders for the people of his country.

New Delhi: The situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated following the ongoing fierce war between Taliban and Afghan military forces. As per media reports and news agencies, Taliban have captured the outskirts of the country and are now moving towards the province capitals. The situation in the country has worsened ever since the withdrawal of the US Army on May 1. The United States, who have already withdrawn its majority of forces, have planned to complete the drawdown by August 31.  

Meanwhile, cricketer Rashid Khan on Tuesday took to Twitter to make an emotional appeal to the world leaders for the people of Afghanistan. The 22-year-old star spinner shared an emotional via his official handle on Twitter.

He wrote, "Dear World Leaders! My country is in chaos,thousand of innocent people, including children & women, get martyred everyday, houses & properties being destructed.Thousand families displaced..Don’t leave us in chaos. Stop killing Afghans & destroying AfghaniatanFlag of Afghanistan. We want peace."

Rashid Khan, who is ranked amongst one of most talented leg-spinners in world cricket, has played in many franchise leagues around the world including Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Premier League (PSL), Australia's Big Bash League (BBL).

The war between Afghan government forces and the Taliban has left many families homeless. As per media reports, many children are being even forcibly recruited into armed organizations.

Meanwhile, UNICEF's representative in Afghanistan, Hervé Ludovich, said in the statement that 20 children have died and 130 were injured in Afghanistan in the last 72 hours. According to the UNHCR, more than 35,000 families have been rendered homeless in Afghanistan in the last month.
