World Cup 2019: Fuming Kohli Argues With Ravi Shastri After 'Impulsive' Pant's Dismissal

The disappointment was writ large on the face of Virat Kohli after Pant's dismissal as he looked at coach Ravi Shastri with shock

Chasing 240, a top-order collapse put India under the pump before Ravindra Jadeja's sensational 77-run knock raised hopes of a turnaround but eventually the hot title-favourites fell short by 18 runs. India had lost just one match en route the semifinal and finished on top of the table before the knock out the stage. First time ever in ODI history the top-3 batsmen (Rohit , Rahul and Kohli) have all got out for 1 run each. With top-order failing it was up to the wicketkeepers, all-rounders and bowlers to take India through. With the score at 24/4, India flamboyant batsman Rishab Pant  was joined by all-rounder Hardik Pandya as India looked to chase down 240. The two looked to be playing well till Pant decided to hit a slog sweep off Mitchell Santner only to caught in the deep by Colin de Grandhomme for a 56-ball 32. The disappointment was writ large on the face of Virat Kohli as he looked at coach Ravi Shastri with shock. Asked to elaborate on the discussion he was seen having with Shastri in the dressing room, Kohli said: "I was discussing what happened and what's the plan going forward from that situation and what kind of information needs to be sent out there in the middle, so we can assess where the game needs to go. So, yeah, these were the events that happened exactly and the points will always come up, I'm ready for that."
