Women's World T20: Bismah Maroof's return strengthens Pakistan

The decision to include Maroof was taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board after a final report on her fitness cleared that she had totally recovered and was ready to be a part of the travelling group

After recovering from a sinus injury, former Pakistani captain Bismah Maroof is all set to replace Sidra Ameen, who had initially been named in the squad. The decision to include Maroof was taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board after a final report on her fitness cleared that she had totally recovered and was ready to be a part of the travelling group. Undoubtedly, her return strengthens the Pakistan squad.

However, despite of her return, Javeria Khan will continue as the captain of the Pakistani side.

The left-handed batswoman, Maroof, is the highest run-getter for Pakistan in the shortest format of the game and has also some exceptional skills when it comes to being a leg-spinner.

Her experience of leading Pakistan in 22 games will bring more strength and confidence to her side when they take on the likes of Australia, New Zealand, India and Ireland in the group stages.

Pakistan will face world No. 1 Australia in their very first game.
