WATCH: Manjrekar touches Gavaskar's feet after getting camouflage Team India cap

Commentators don the camouflage caps in the Comm box during the India vs Australia 3rd ODI in Ranchi

In order to pay respect to the Pulwama attack martyrs, the men-in-blue donned special Army camouflage caps during the third ODI against Australia and donated their match fee to the National Defence Fund. During the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen wearing the camouflage military cap which had the BCCI's logo on it.

Former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, handed the caps to his teammates and the Indian cricket board put out a video of it on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Apart from the Indian players, the commentators also sported the same cap during the match. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar distributed the caps to his mates in the commentary box comprising Harsha Bhogle, Murali Karthik, Matthew Hayden, L Sivaramakrishnan and Sanjay Manjrekar.

Gavaskar got it from Manjrekar who touched his feet while presenting the cap.

Here’s the video:

A playing XI member gets Rs 8 lakh as match fees per game in ODIs and the reserve players get half that amount.

Earlier, the BCCI had decided to donate the entire budget of the IPL opening ceremony for the benefit of the families of those killed in the terrorist attack.

At least 40 CRPF personnel were killed in the Pulwama attack, for which Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility.
