The unfortunate incident took place in the 31st over of Sri Lanka's first innings when Karunaratne couldn't get out of the way of a very well angled short ball from Cummins at 142 kmph.

After getting struck in the back of the neck, the left-hander immediately dropped to the ground and wasn’t moving. The 30-year-old was quickly attended to by both Sri Lanka and Australia medical staff.
