WATCH: Josh Lalor takes 4th hat-trick of BBL history but doesn’t realise
It was the fourth hat-trick of the BBL which Lalor took without even noticing it. The previous three were taken by Xavier Doherty in 2012 followed by Andrew Tye, claiming each in 2017 and 2018
Australian left-arm bowler Josh Lalor scripted history in the on-going Big Bash League (BBL) on Friday. Representing Brisbane Heat at the Gabba, Lalor grabbed his first hat-trick in the history of the tournament against Perth Scorchers but surprisingly, neither his teammates nor he himself could realise that he had reached a remarkable milestone.
After dismissing Andrew Tye on the last ball of the 18th over, Lalor knocked out Matt Kelly and danger man Nick Hobson to begin the final over. After scalping the third wicket of his hat-trick, Lalor didn’t celebrate as nobody realised it at the moment.
However, he had to be told by teammate Alex Ross, who was on the Channel 7 microphone, that he had achieved the feat. Ross rushed towards Lalor, informed him and hugged him for his feat.
Here’s the video of the incident:

Lalor finished with 3-23 from his three overs to inflict more pain on the struggling Scorchers. His bowling heroics restricted the Perth Scorchers to a disappointing 9-128.
