Ireland’s dream of getting into the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s World T20 was shattered on Tuesday when they found themselves at the losing end against Pakistan. Powered by skipper Javeria Khan’s unbeaten 52-ball 74, Pakistan posted their highest T20I total ever – 139/6. In return, Ireland eves could only muster 101 in 20 overs at a loss of 9 wickets, losing the game by 39 runs.
The Irish side was left completely heart-broken with the loss. Even captain Laura Delany couldn’t hold her tears and broke down during the post-match press conference while speaking about the humiliating defeat which she termed "so incredibly frustrating."
“If we were professional I wonder what the score would have been out there today to lose the match by 40 runs,” said a dejected Laura Delany.

Talking about face-off, Pakistan women’s team registered their first victory in the tournament. Pakistan bowlers Sana Mir, Nashra Sandhu, Aliya Riaz and Aiman Anwer scalped two wickets each to maul the Irish women.
After this clash, both the teams are slated to play their next games on Thursday. Ireland next play India in their Group B match while Pakistan will face New Zealand.
