WATCH: Hobart Hurricanes' captain George Bailey agrees to have Rishabh Pant after Tim Paine's banter

The former Australian captain stated that they ‘need another wicketkeeper’ in the side and termed it a ‘good idea’

Hobart Hurricanes skipper Geroge Bailey has agreed to have Rishabh Pant in the team only a day after Tim Paine sledged him during the third day’s play of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The former Australian captain stated that they ‘need another wicketkeeper’ in the side and termed it a ‘good idea’.

What was the incident?

India were struggling with the bat on the third day of the Boxing Day Test after speedster Pat Cummin’s furious spell had ripped the Indian top-order apart. While Pant was the strike, Paine wanted to distract the young Indian wicketkeeper and trolled him over MS Dhoni's return to the ODI side. Since Pant hasn’t found himself in the squad, the Australia captain sledged Pant over his axing and asked him whether he would be interested in playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League.

“Tell you what big MS is back in the one-day squad. Should get this bloke down to Hurricanes.. They need a batter.

Fancy that extend you Aussie holiday, beautiful town Hobart too... get him a waterfront apartment”

“Have him over for dinner.”

“Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the kids,” said Paine and the entire conversation was captured by the stump mic.

Bailey’s Reaction

When the current Hobart Hurricanes captain was asked about his view on recruiting Pant, he said, “Yeah, we need another wicketkeeper, we’ve only got about six in the squad. That’s a good idea.
