WATCH: Discarded from India T20I squad, Ashwin smashes 42 off 28 in TNPL opener
In his spell of 4 overs, the DD skipper leaked 35 runs at an economy rate of 8.75 and took 2 wickets
After decent captaincy stint with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, R Ashwin is leading the Dindigul Dragons (DD) in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
In the opening game of the season, Ashwin exhibited an all-round performance against the Ruby Trichy Warriors (RTW) on Wednesday at Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli.
Ashwin won the toss and elected to bat first, but they didn’t have a satisfactory beginning as they lost the first wicket in the 3rd over. A partnership of 68 runs was stitched for the 2nd wicket but soon the skipper had to take the responsibility of scoring runs.
Ashwin came to bat at number 5 and smashed 42 runs of just 28 balls. During his stint he hit a six and 6 boundaries but unfortunately, missed his half-century. In the 19th over he was dismissed by D Kumaran.
