‘They’re A Ferrari, They Don’t Have A Brake In Their Cars’: Michael Vaughan On England’s Playing Style Ahead Of Ashes 2023

Michael Vaughan has cautioned Australia ahead of Ashes 2023.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has cautioned Australia ahead of Ashes 2023. He warned Australian pacer Scott Boland and went on to say that the Three Lions would be treating Boland like a spinner and continue their aggressive approach to playing Test match cricket. Notably, Boland made his Test debut last Ashes but has been in sensational form ever since even making his presence felt at the World Test Championship (WTC) final which was his first game in English conditions.

"They’re almost ripping up the textbook of what’s generally been required for Test match cricket," Vaughan was quoted as saying by Fox Cricket.

"They’ll be playing (Scott Boland) like a spinner. They’ll be running down, trying to get outside off stump, they’ll be trying to whip it on the off side," he added.

Notably, with Ben Stokes as at the helm of affairs in Test match cricket and Brendon McCullum as their head coach, England have seemingly cracked the code and won the last 12 of their 17 Test matches. Their attacking style of cricket has been dubbed as the "Bazball" brand of cricket and England have gone for the win even risking a loss but not settling for a draw.

"It’s very, very difficult to play against, they’re an energised team. They do play with absolutely no fear," Vaughan said.

"They’re a Ferrari … they don’t have a brake in their cars," the 48-year-old stated.

The first of the five-match series is set to commence at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 16. Post that the action will shift to the Lord's in London where the second Test match will begin on June 28. The Third Test match will begin at Headingley in Leeds on July 6. The fourth Test is scheduled at the Old Trafford in Manchester beginning on July 19. The final Test match will begin on July 27 at the Oval in London.
