T20 World Cup: Tournament Starts With An Upset, Scotland Defeats Bangladesh In Qualifiers

Scotland Stuns Bangladesh: Scotland thrashed Bangladesh by 6 runs yesterday. Chris Greaves hit 45 off 28 balls, and also took 2 wickets and gave 19 runs in 3 overs.

Scotland Stuns Bangladesh: In the T20 World Cup's (T20 World Cup) Qualifier Stage (Qualifier Stage) yesterday, (Scotland) stunned (Bangladesh) by 6 runs. Scotland all-rounder (Chris Greaves) became the star player for his team, as he played 28 balls and scored 45 runs, followed by a brilliant bowling spell of 3 overs and gave away 19 runs and took 2 wickets. With this defeat, it would be hard for Bangladesh to make their place in Super 12 of this tournament.

Bangladesh captain (Mahmudullah) won the toss and was elected to field first. Scotland got off to a poor start and scored 53 runs and lost 6 important wickets. Chris Greaves then teamed up with Mark Watt and took control of their team by scoring 51 runs in partnership. Greaves, with a 160.71 strike rate, played 28 balls and scored 45 runs in the innings. His innings included four fours and two sixes. Greaves' innings helped Scotland reached a respectable total of 140 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 9 wickets.

For Bangladesh, Mehdi Hasan bowled the best with 3 wickets, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each.

Greaves and Brad Wheal led Scotland to victory  

141 runs target - chasing the score, Bangladesh got off to a poor start and the team lost 2 wickets for just 18 runs. Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim then tried to save the innings, but with both of their dismissals, the rest of Bangladesh was seen struggling to play Scotland's bowlers.

In the last over, Bangladesh needed 24 runs to win. Unfortunately, the team managed to score only 16 runs in the final over and lost the match by 6 runs.. For Scotland, Brad Wheal bowled 4 overs and gave away 24 runs and claimed 3 wickets, while Chris Greaves bowled 3 overs and gave away 19 runs and picked up 2 wickets. Greaves was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
