New Delhi: Scotland beat Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 17 runs in Tuesday's Group B match at the T20 World Cup 2021. Richie Berrington played a key role in Scotland's victory after he performed brilliantly with the bat at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground.
Batting first, Berrington scored 70 off 49 balls for Scotland. After his impressive knock, Berrington garnered attention for his fielding efforts. Berrington, fielding at backward point during PNG's innings, pulled off a spectacular catch that ICC couldn't avoid mentioning. ICC shared a video of the catch on its Instagram handle and described Berrington's catch as a "masterclass for fielding".
PNG batsman Simon Atai struck an impressive shot off Scottish bowler Josh Davey. It was such an impressive hit that everyone thought the ball would race away to the boundary. However, Richie Berrington, who was standing at the backward point, changed the assumption. He leaped, stuck his left hand out, and caught it brilliantly.
ICC also posted a video of the catch and wrote, "Richie Berrington, not satisfied in impressing with just the bat, decides to give us a masterclass in the field too." You can also watch the video of this catch here.
