Waqar Younis Questions De Kock's 'Cheeky Giggle' Post Controversial Run-out

Quinton de Kock ran Fakhar Zaman out on 193 in a controversial way. Waqar Younis posed a question against de Kock’s reaction post that wicket.

Pakistan bowling coach and ex-fast bowler, Waqar Younis has pointed out the reaction of Quinton de Kock after he ran Fakhar Zamaan out in a cheeky manner. Fakhar Zaman was playing on 193 when he was ran out by de Kock, just seven shy of a maiden ODI double-hundred in Pakistan’s history. “Record breaking inning. Simply Outstanding Fakhar Zaman. What about this cheeky giggle from Quinton tells you?” Waqar Younis tweeted.

The dismissal became a topic of controversy and discussion on social media among fans, cricketers and analysts. Many believed that the distraction caused by de Kock led to the wicket of Fakhar Zaman.

Take a look at the tweet by Waqar Younis first:

Shoaib Akhtar was direct in calling out De Kock for not adhering to the ‘Spirit Of Cricket’. He said, “I wouldn’t call it cheating, but I would not call it in the spirit of the game,” and also stated the MCC’s 41.5 number law.

Here is his social media post:

The on-field umpires and match refrees did not see anything wrong with the incident and thus, no penalties were imposed. The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) that designs the rules of cricket had no qualms and stated that eventually, the decision depends on the discretion of the Umpires, present on and off the field.

Here is the run out and some angry reactions by fans:

Fakhar Zaman denied these allegations by fans and said that it was not Quinton De Kock's fault. Fakhar Zaman said that he was to blame for the run-out as he was unaware about where the ball is coming to. "The fault was mine as I was too busy looking out for Haris Rauf at the other end as I felt he'd started off a little late from his crease, so I thought he was in trouble. The rest is up to the match referee, but I don't think it's Quinton's fault," he said.
