Shikhar Dhawan Retires: Legendary India batter Shikhar Dhawan announced retirement from all forms of cricket on August 24 (Saturday). The left-handed Indian batter played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, scoring seven Test centuries, 17 ODI centuries and 11 T20I half-centuries. He made his India debut on October 10 in 2010 marking over 13 years of international cricket. The left-handed batter took to social media to announce the news with a heartwarming video that has fans emotional.

After making his ODI debut, Dhawan made his T20I debut against West Indies in 2011 and his Test debut in 2013 against Australia. Dhawan also had a long Indian Premier League (IPL) career from 2008 to 2024, playing for multiple teams, including Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. He won the IPL title once with Hyderabad.

Affectionately called ‘Gabbar’ by fans and teammates, Dhawan’s retirement video had social media flooding with emotional responses. Chants of ‘Thank you, Gabbar’ reverberated throughout the social media whereas a comment also read 'End of an era.'
