Safety Concerns Reported At Kanpur's Green Park Stadium Ahead Of IND vs BAN 2nd Test
Concerns are not limited to the stand at Kanpur stadium. The report also revealed that one of the floodlights near the VIP pavilion isn't functioning properly.
Safety concern in Kanpur Green Park stadium: The India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test is set to begin on October 2nd at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. This venue has hosted few international matches, as the spotlight has shifted to the newly built Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, with superior facilities.
According to The Indian Express, concerns raised by Public Works Department (PWD) engineers regarding structural integrity of pillars in Balcony C have prompted Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to limit ticket sales for this section ahead of IND vs BAN 2nd Test, starting on Friday.

"This stand won't be able to take the weight of even 50 fans, if they start jumping after Rishabh Pant hits a six. This part of the stadium is in dire need of repair," a PWD engineer told The Indian Express.
Upon discussions, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) officials decided to limit sale of tickets of Balcony C.
"The PWD has raised some issues and we have agreed that we will not sell all the tickets of Balcony C," UPCA CEO Ankit Chatterjee told The Indian Express.
"We have been told to sell only 1700 tickets for the stand, which has a capacity of 4,800. The repair work will continue for the next couple of days," he added.
Concerns are not limited to the stand; there are also other technical issues at the stadium. The report also revealed that one of the floodlights near the VIP pavilion isn't functioning properly.
In the previous match at Kanpur's Green Park in 2021, India had difficulty closing out a win against New Zealand due to poor lighting, even with all the floodlights on. To avoid a similar situation, it's essential to ensure all preparations are thoroughly addressed.
