Rs 500 and RS 1000 notes banned: Cricket fans left disappointed in Rajkot

Rajkot: The Government on Tuesday took a bold step to scrap high denomination currency in a bid to scrap to illegal hoarding of corruption. The notes worth Rupees 500 and 1000 will be considered illegal  from Tuesday midnight. 


India is hosting England at Rajkot in the opening games of five-match Test series and this move by the Government has had a huge impact on the fans gathered to watch the game Saurashtra Cricket Association's Kandheri Stadium. The spectators who made it to the stadium from far places are required to tender lower denomination notes in exchange of tickets.


Large number of fans travelled to the Kandheri stadium with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes but Saurashtra Cricket Association(SCA) refused to provide entry inside the stadium, leaving the fans disappointed.
