Steve Rhodes has been shortlisted as the potential candidate to take over the reins of Bangladesh cricket and the former England wicket-keeper will arrive in Bangladesh for an interview, according to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
The Head coach’s post became vacant 8 months ago after Chandrika Hathurusingha stood down to take his country’s top job.
"Steve Rhodes is in our shortlist as a head coach and we are hoping that he will meet us in Dhaka in a couple of days,' Nizamuddin told reporters.
"We have already communicated with him that we would like to know what plans he has for the Bangladesh team for the 2019 World Cup and 2020 World T20,” he added.
Gary Kirsten, who is working with the Bangladesh cricket as a consultant has shortlisted Rhodes as the right man to guide ‘The Tigers’ forward.
The 54-year-old played 11 Tests and 9 ODI for England and had successful career in the domestic circuit with Yorkshire and Worcestershire. Rhodes was the head coach of Worcestershire since 2006, having played for them since 1985 to 2004, but was sacked last year in controversial circumstances.
