Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has the most explosive batting unit in this season of the Indian Premier League but their bowling unit has affected their march in the tournament. The RCB, led by Virat Kohli, have dominated with the bat so far and consistently posted high totals. Despite that, they are at the sixth position in the points table.

Their hopes of matching the batting muscle with a dominant balling unit were pinned on Australian speedster Mitchell Starc. However, the RCB were dealt with a big blow when injured Starc made himself unavailable for the initial phase of the IPL 2016. Still, their was some hope that he will return to lead their bowling in the later half of the tournament.

But it wasn’t to be. On Tuesday, Starc was ruled out of the ninth edition of the IPL.

According to reports from Cricket Australia, the Australian left-armer is still some time away from a full-time recovery and will not be be available before Australia's tour of the West Indies slated for June.

Without any delay, the RCB have signed England fast bowler Chris Jordan, who was a member of the England side that made it to the final of the World T20.

Jordan was not picked up by any IPL franchise during the auction in February but he emerged as one of England's key death bowlers in the World T20. Impressed by that, the RCB decided to bring him on board to strengthen their bowling arsenal.

Chris Jordan is RCB's second replacement signing after they hired the services of in South Africa-born chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi few days back.
