Ravi Shastri Is Covid Positive In RT-PCR Test, Team India Head Coach To Remain In Isolation

Ravi Shastri Tests Covid Positive: Shastri has not travelled with the team to the Oval Stadium and he will stay in isolation for 10 days.

IND Vs ENG: Indian cricket team's head coach, Ravi Shastri has been tested positive for Covid-19 as per his RT-PCR report. The news was confirmed by PTI's BCCI sources. Shastri has not travelled with the team to the Oval Stadium for the last two days of the Test match. He will stay in isolation for 10 days.

A press release from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the four members of Team India's support staff - which also includes Shastri - have undergone RT-PCR. They will remain in the team hotel, BCCI said in the statement. The rest of the members of team India were tested twice before entering the field on Day 4 of the Test match.

Bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding Coach R. Sridhar, and physiotherapist Nitin Patel have been isolated too, along with Shastri.

Shastri Was Vaccinated

Coach Ravi Shastri had taken the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine on 2 March 2021. He had posted about getting vaccinated on Twitter. Shastri took the vaccine at Apollo Hospital, Ahmedabad right before the start of the 4th India vs England Test match.

It is not clear if Shastri was done with his second vaccination against Covid-19, but he had expressed his dissatisfaction with the quarantine rules stating "2 jabs of the vaccine has to be trusted" in a Twitter post.

Ravi Shastri's tenure is set to end after the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup.
