Ranji Trophy: MP wrap up match against Baroda in just 2 balls

Dharamsala: Madhya Pradesh needed just two deliveries to dismiss the last Baroda batsman and wrap up an easy 232-run victory on the fourth and final day of their Group A Ranji Trophy cricket match here today.

Sagar Mangalorkar was bowled by pacer Chandrakant Sakure, who completed his five-wicket haul, in the second ball he faced without adding any run to his overnight individual score of eight as well as to the team total of 114.

The other overnight batsman Babashafi Pathan remained not out on 10 as he did not face any ball today as Baroda were all out for 114 in 35.2 overs while chasing an improbable 347 for a win at the HPCA Stadium.

Madhya Pradesh, who had earned a 53-run first innings lead, collected all the six points from the win while Baroda got none.

Yesterday, Baroda suffered a batting collapse in their second innings as, barring an opening stand of 32 and a third-wicket partnership of 24, they failed to put up any resistance and were reduced to 95 for nine in 30 overs.

Thanks to an unbroken last-wicket stand between Mangalorkar and Pathan, Baroda reached 114 for 9 at the close of play yesterday.

Opener Kedar Devdhar top-scored for Baroda in their run chase with 18.

For Madhya Pradesh, Sakure (5/17) got ample support from Ishwar Pandey (2/19), Puneet Datey (2/49) and Ankit Kushwah (1/17).

Brief Scores:

Madhya Pradesh: 217 & 293

Baroda: 164 & 114 all out in 35.2 overs (Kedar Devdhar 18; Chandrakant Sakure 5/17)
