PCB CEO Slams Mohammad Hafeez For Taking Private Covid-19 Test, Breaking Board's Protocol

"I spoke to Hafeez today and I made it clear to him our disappointment at the way he had handled this entire affair," PCB CEO Khan told the Cricket Baaz YouTube channel on Wednesday.

PCB CEO Wasim Khan came out hard at Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez for not consulting with the nation's apex cricket board before deciding to take a private COVID-19 test and even connected over a call with the Pakistan all-rounder to express his displeasure over the matter "I spoke to Hafeez today and I made it clear to him our disappointment at the way he had handled this entire affair," PCB CEO Khan told the Cricket Baaz YouTube channel on Wednesday. Khan said that the Hafeez should have followed the proper protocol by talking to the PCB first. "As an individual he has a right to take a private test but he should have spoken to us first because he created a problem for us," he said. When asked whether disciplinary action will be taken against him, Khan said the board is mulling options on what could be done further in the matter. "This is not the first time that Hafeez has breached our rules in the media. He doesn't have a central contract but once he was selected for the Pakistan team he has to abide by the rules and regulations for all players especially pertaining to the use of social media. "We are still looking at the matter because it has caused us a lot of problems," Khan said. Hafeez on Wednesday said he has tested negative for Covid-19 after getting himself tested in a personal capacity, post being declared positive by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Hafeez's statement comes a day after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed 10 of their players in the 29-member squad for Pakistan tour tested positive for Covid-19. Pakistan said Hafeez was one of the 7 players who results for Covid-19 tests came out positive on Tuesday. May Allah keep us all safe (sic)," Hafeez said in a Twitter post.
