South Africa Women managed merely 132/4 at the end of their innings, as Tazmin Brits scored a brilliant unbeaten 56 off 63. Sadia Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan Women, as she registered the figures of 34/3, with her last over going for 20 runs that affected her economy rate.
In reply, the hosts were 47/5, but the duo of Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana gave a sacre to visitors by registering an unbeaten stand of 75 off 45 balls, but their hardwork was left undone, as Proteas Women registered a 10-run win.
"The pitch was a bit difficult to bat on. Credit to Pakistan. They bowled well in the powerplay. I got a few instructions from the dug out. It was a bit frustrating at times as I was struggling and was letting the team down. Good we finished well in the end," said Tazmin Brits, who was awarded the Player of the Match.
Here's What The Two Captains Said During Post-Match Presentation Ceremomy
Fatima Sana (Pakistan Women Captain):
"It didn't feel like that we were losing out and I thought we were in the game for a long time. We failed to get the big overs towards the end which cost us. We played the spinners as it's our strength. The ball was gripping a bit too. I will look to continue to keep up the all-round effort. Would have been prouder had we won. Aliya Riaz played a good knock but we were under too much pressure early on and hence couldn't capitalize in the end."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain):
"It is good to win the first game. Another good thing will be that the players will think they have not performed at their best. It was great to defend this total. The bowlers were excellent. Kapp is one of our best players and she has been performing for us from time to time. Naidu's catch was impressive and that will be a good debut to remember for her."
