Not Unmukt Chand! Who Is The Former Ranji Trophy Top-Scorer Picked In USA's T20 World Cup 2024 Squad

Unmukt Chand did not feature in USA's 15-member T20 World Cup 2024 squad which was not without Indian representation. A former Ranji Trophy top-scorer did make it to the team.

USA T20 World Cup 2024 Squad: The United States Of America (USA) announced their squad for T20 World Cup 2024 which they are co-hosting along with the Caribbean islands in June. USA's 15-member contingent was announced on Friday (May 3). While it was being anticipated that Unmukt Chand, who led India to an U-19 World Cup win in 2012, will find a place in USA's squad and perhaps even get to comepete againts India, a prospect that Chand was looking forward to, it turns out that the right-handed batter has failed to make it to the squad.

Chand may not have made it to USA's T20 World Cup squad but that does not mean that the side will be without any Indian representation. In fact, much like Chand, a former Delhi cricketer has made it to USA's 15-member contingent for T20 World Cup 2024 and he happens to be Milind Kumar. Milind even top-scored for Delhi in the 2018-19 season of the Ranji Trophy but like Chand moved to the States after retiring from Indian cricket in a bid for better opportunities there. Earlier, this year Milind went on to play international cricket, representing USA against Canada.

Milind Kumar: Overall Career Stats

Milind was part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) setup in the IPL but did not get a game. He then migrated to USA and has so far played 3 T20Is. In 2 innings so far, he has scored 20 runs. The 33-year-old hasn't yet bowled his off-breaks in T20Is but but is handy bowling option as his List A career suggests. In 50 overs cricket overall, Milind has 12 wickets in 31 innings, in addition to the 2023 runs scored from 61 innings. In T20s, he has five wickets to his credit from 18 innings. With the bat he has accumulated 1196 runs in T20s from at a strike rate of 111.25.
