New Zealand vs Pakistan: To Qualify For Semi Finals, India Need Pakistan To Chase 111 Runs In More Than 10.4 Overs

For India to qualify, the Women in Blue need Pakistan to chase the target of 111 runs in 20 overs against New Zealand. However, if Pakistan chase the target down within 10.4 overs, they will qualify.

India need a favour from arch-rivals Pakistan in order to qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi finals. Pakistan, who are up against New Zealand in their last group-stage fixture, need to beat the Kiwis for India to qualify through to the knockout stage. In the ongoing NZ vs PAK match, Pakistan are batting second and need to chase the target of 111 set by New Zealand in 20 overs. However, if Pakistan chase the target down within 10.4 overs, they will qualify for the semis, knocking out New Zealand and India both.

If Pakistan chase the target after 10.4 overs, which means with more than 58 balls remaining, they will knock New Zealand out of the tournament and will help India go through to the semi finals of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. However, if they beat New Zealand in 10.4 overs, they will tie with India and New Zealand with four points on the Group A points table but will leapfrog both teams' Net Run Rate (NRR), going through to the semi finals and knocking both India and New Zealand out.

Loss To Australia Puts India's Qualification Chances In Jeopardy

India lost to Australia in their last group-stage match by nine runs, which put their fate of semi final qualification out of their hands. If India had defeated Australia, they would have secured six points in three four matches, and gven their NRR was above New Zealand, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side would see themselves through to the semis of the Women's T20 World Cup.

In their must-win match against Australia, India were put in to bowl first by Australia's stand-in skipper Tahlia McGrath. Batting first, Australia scored 151 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Chasing the total, India were positioned nicely for a win for most of the match as captain Karmanpreet Kaur was not out throughout the innings but last-over brilliance by Australia's Annabel Sutherland kept India from a win and Australia won by nine runs.
