Pakistan legend Mohammad Amir has announced his international retirement yet again, as the iconic pacer steps down from international circuit. The official confirmation of the decision has been made by the player himself, via his social media handles, and he now joins Imad Wasim as the second player from the country to hang his boots for the national side this week.

"After careful consideration, I have taken the difficult decision to retire from international cricket. These decision are never easy, but are inevitable. I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan Cricket to new heights. Representing my country has been, and always will be the greatest honour of my life. I would sincerely like to thank the PCB, my family, my friends, and above all, my fans for their continuous love and support," said Mohammad Amir, in his official announcement of retirement.

Why Has Mohammad Amir Announced His Retirement Again?

Mohammad Amir made his much-awaited international comeback this year, after being sidelined and out-of-favour post 2019 ODI World Cup. There were several reports indicating his rift with then-all-format skipper of Pakistan, Babar Azam, but after appeal from his all over the world, the legendary pacer agreed to come out of retirement to play for Pakistan once again.

With age catching up, and new Chief Selector at the helm, it is pretty evident that we all saw the very last of Mohammad Amir at the top level, at the T20 World Cup 2024.

A new class of fast bowlers are coming up for Pakistan, and there seems to be no chance of Mohammad Amir playing at the top level. Therefore, the decision seems to be indeed, a wise one to retire at the top level.
