Maharashtra Government Announces Rs 11 Crore Prize Money For T20 World Cup-Winning Indian Team

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announced the prize money in central hall of the state's Vidhan Bhavan.

While Team India has received its fair share of criticism in the past, after their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph it is now time for them to soak in all the adulation and keep on collecting prizes and honour. Not long after their win over South Africa in the final that helped Team India claim its fourth World Cup- T20I or ODIs- and their first World title in 11 years, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a whopping Rs. 125 crore as prize money for the victorious team.

And now a day after Team India was formally handed over a Rs. 125-crore cheque at a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Maharashtra government has announced Rs 11 crore prize money for the members of the Indian cricket team. The prize was announced by none other than Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday (July 5) in central hall of the state's Vidhan Bhavan.

CM Shinde Felicitates Support Staff Members Paras Mhambre, Arun Kanade

Four Mumbai players from the team- captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube- were all felicitated in the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha. Specifically, the CM was happy about the team's win over arch-rivals Pakistan while giving a special shout out to Suryakumar Yadav's catch off David Miller in the last over of the final.

Other than the players, CM Shinde also pointed out specifically the contribution of support staff members Paras Mhambre and Arun Kanade by felicitating them. He was also quick to point out the effective work done by Mumbai police in managing crowd as Team India had a victory parade at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after their return from Barbados.
