Live or action replay? Dhoni's unique stumping becomes talk of the town

New Delhi: You have seen slow motion replays. Many are also familiar with ultra slow motions used for pre and post-match analysis. Now brace yourself for slow motion in live action. No, this is not a new discovery in the ever growing world of technology. This unimaginable thing has been turned into a reality by none other than MS Dhoni.

Now before everyone starts to roll their eyeballs and compare this with just another viral story which has no substance, here is the proof.

Dhoni may have been struggling to find the fence with the bat but his gloves are still as swift as a hare. Interestingly it was not the swiftness that came into play on Sunday. Instead, it was the poise and utmost perfection with which Dhoni teased the opposition captain Jason Holder that it appeared to be a live action-replay. If anything of that sorts ever exists in cricketing linguistics. 

Kuldeep Yadav was the initiator of the spectacle with a lovely tossed up wrong one, enticing Holder to hop out of his crease in pursuit of a big one. The tall West Indian was done by the flight and he ended up missing it altogether. With the batsman halfway down, Dhoni decided to have some fun. And when Dhoni does something, he makes sure it is unique in its own way. Holder’s run-a-ball 29 was brought to an end by the Kuldeep-Dhoni combo.

His stumping did not affect the outcome of the match as it was already way out of the hosts’ reach. But it did send a quite a reminder that you can’t ignore Dhoni’s presence even if you want to.

Chasing a stiff target of 311 in 43 overs, West Indies could only manage 205 for 6, handing India a  comfortable 105-run victory and a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
