India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I, Indore, Live Scorecard

BOWLED'em! Pandya gets into the wickets column and India have won the match by 88 runs as Angelo Mathews will not come out to bat because of a hamstring injury.

India take three-match series 2-0.

Chahal joins the party

When Kuldeep is dishing out wickets at the other end how can Chahal stay behind? The leg-spinner responds with another three-wicket over. Sri Lanka have lost their eighth wicket -  seven of those to Kuldeep and Chahal. It's only a matter of time now

3 wickets in 1 Kuldeep over

You know the outcome when Dhoni is confident. Kuldeep Yadav has got three wickets in over. Asela Gunaratne is out stumped for a duck. This over from Kuldeep Yadav is perhaps the turning point of the match. Sri lanka have lost half their side for 161.

India get Perera

Oh boy! look at Indian players celebrate. They know how big a wicket this is. It's Kusal Perera, the man holding Sri Lanka in the game. He is gone a superb 77 off 37 balls. Is a collapse on the cards?

Golden duck for Perera

Kuldeep Yadav makes a roaring comeback. Gets the oppsotion captain for a first ball duck. Tossed up delivery well outside off stump, Perera reaches out for it but gets the toe end of the bat. Pandya covers good ground towards left to hold on to ta good catch.

Chahal gets the prized scalp

Top edge, Chahal sets himself under the ball and takes the catch nice and comfortably to bring an end to the Sri Lankan onslaught. India needed this. Tharanga is out after a well made 47 off 29 balls. SL: 145/2

Fifty for Kusal Perera

That's a flat batted slap for another boundary. Fifty for Perera off just 26 balls, what an innings it has been by the young left-hander. After he had all the troubles against Chahal in the previous T20I, he has tunred it all around here. But he needs to go on if Sri Lanka have to get near the India's towering 260.

Tharanga on fire

That's two sixes off Yuzvendra Chahal. Upul Tharanga has raced to 42 off just 23 balls. Can he be Sri Lanka's Rohit Sharma here? Sri Lanka are 102 for 1 after 10 overs, still needing 159 run soff 60 balls.

Unadkat strikes

This was on the cards. Dickwella was going for everything and this time he gets a top edge. No let off this time around by Pandya. Good slower delivery by Unadkat.

Dickwella improvises

Right from the first ball, Dickwella has made it clear that Sri Lanka won't die wondering. But will it come off? he has already survived a drop a catch.

So, Sri Lanka will have to put up their highest ever T20I score if they have to stay alive in the series.

The ground has small boundaries, but you'd argue that Sri Lanka should have done better than they did. Conceding 260 anywhere isn't acceptable. On top of that, dropping both openers when they're in such fine form cost them dearly. A couple of wickets from the skipper Perera and Pradeep, but they came when it was a little too late. A blazing start is what they need and the openers hold the key for them. Join us back in a short time.

A power-packed batting display from the hosts after being put into the bat. The two openers set it all up for them. First it was the Rohit Sharma show where the skipper went ballistic and scored a brisk ton, then Rahul followed suit with a fluent 89 and those big knocks were backed by some lusty blows with Dhoni and Pandya towards the death. There is a mammoth total on the board and they will be thoroughly satisfied with it.

India end up with 260/5 (Rohit 118, Rahul 89), its highest & the 2nd highest in world in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka at Indore

India lose quick wickets

First Pandya, now Shreyas Iyer takes the long walk back. India have lost three quick wickets.

Rahul departs after a superb 89

Brilliant catch by Dickwella. Boy it needed something special to put an end to this. KL Rahul falls for 89 off just 49 balls (8 sixes and 5 fours). India 243/2 after 18.4 overs

200 up for India

India go past 200 with another 4 overs to go. Yes, you read that right. India are 201 for 1 after 16 overs. Any guesses about India's final socre?

Rohit falls for 118

The mayhem comes to end. After hitting two sixes and a four off Chameera, Rohit holes out at third man. The Indore crowd stands up to what has been a master class by Rohit Sharma. He is out for 118 off just 43 balls after hitting 10 sixes and 12 fours.

100 off 35 balls

Four consecutive sixes, Rohit Sharma equals the fastest T20I huindred. He gets there in just 35 balls, equaling South Africa's David Miller's feat earlier this year against Bangladesh.

Rohit goes berserk

Six, six, four, four : 21 runs off the Gunaratne over. Rohit Sharma is putting up a show here. What batting, just stand and deliver. India hav reached 100 in just 9 overs.

Fifty for Rohit, in just 23 balls.

50 up for India

Rohit paddles it past the short fine-leg fielder for a four. That's fifty for India in just 5.3 overs. It looks like it will be a long night for the Sri Lankan bowlers. Fasten your seatbelts, we are in for something special tongiht.

Raining sixes

Silken touch by both the Indian openers. First Rahul, then Rohit joins in. Nuwan Pradeep has been gently hit for two sixes. Rohit pulls it over deep mid-wicket and then Rahul hits it straight over the bowler's head. 17 off the over. India 43/0 after 5.

That's huge

WOW! what a shot by KL Rahul. Just a shimmy down the wicket and lovely flow of the bat. The ball sails over long-off boundary and into the seocnd tier. That's a humongous six.

Rahul dropped

Staright in and straight out. Samarawickrama puts down a sitter. Short and wide from Mathews, Rahul cuts it hard but straight to Samarawickrama at point. The young Sri Lakan puts it down. It's KL Rahul, the man who scored 61 in the previous game.

Rohit starts off with 2 fours

Positive start by Rohit Sharma. Mathews erred in length twice and Rohit made full use of both of them. One through the off side with a cut shot and another one over mid-wicket with a trademark Rohit pull. India are 8 for no loss after the first over.

Angelo Mathews has the new ball in his hand. Here we go...

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have made thier into the centre.

TOSS:  Sir Lanka won the toss and elected to field first in the 2nd T20I against India at Indore

Hello and welcome to the live coverage of India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I at Indore.

The prelude

The Sri Lankan batters were all at sea against the wrist spin of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav at Cuttack, this despite the presence of considerable amount of dew right from the start of the game.

Indore does not promise anything different, as India would again look to trap the visitors with heavy dose of wrist-spin. Indore promises to be a batting beauty but with less dew, spinners would hope to come into game more.

Dew won't come into play in Indore that early.

"It was cloudy here yesterday and there is same forecast for tomorrow. In that case, dew won't fall before 7:30 or 7:45 which means first 10 overs won't be affected by dew. Still, bowling first will be a good option for captain winning the toss," said Chouhan, the pitch curator.

"We have been using a chemical which prevents grass from getting wet. It causes dew to slip. We will use the substance tomorrow as well to negate the dew factor," Chouhan added.

Both sides have their different motivations for this game. India would not only look to seal the series but also stake a claim to the second spot of ICC T20I rankings, which currently belongs to New Zealand. India are just a point behind them and a 3-0 victory with put them right behind Pakistan – the No. 1 side in the table.

Sri Lanka on the other hand would look to spoil India’s party and stay alive in the series.
