As per the latest reports, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have locked the wicketkeeper slots in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Here are the details
T20 World Cup 2024: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are yet to anounce India's 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June, co-hosted by West Indies and United States of America. However, as per the reports from ANI, it is speculated that the slots for the wicketkeeper in the Indian squad are already sealed, as the ever-consistent KL Rahul and Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant have been selected for the mega event.
"Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are likely to get selected for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad as wicketkeepers. Shivam Dube is also likely to get picked in the squad," a BCCI selection committee source told ANI.
The Lucknow Super Giants skipper (KL Rahul) has so far registered 378 runs in 9 innings, at an excellent average of 42 and an astonishing strike rate of 144.27, with 3 half centuries,
Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, is merely 7 runs behind his compatriot, with 371 runs in 10 innings, at an average of 46.38 and strike rate of 160.61, and has so far registered 3 half centuries.
However, the conditions and situations in which KL Rahul has notched up his runs is highly commendable, whereas, Rishabh Pant ia yet to prove himself in tough conditions and situations, and also, the player is coming off a horrific injury, so fitness level will come in handy, given the hostile environment of West Indies.
