Karun Nair Hits Unbeaten 144 For Northamptonshire Against Surrey In County Championship
Nair came into the limelight when he scored an unbeaten 303 in Chennai towards the end of 2016 while batting against England.
The Karnataka-based batter Karun Nair has been in scintillating form in the ongoing County Championship in England as he smashed an unbeaten 144 for Northamptonshire who are playing against Surrey at the Oval. Nair started the second day on 51 and brought up his 144 off 238 deliveries as his team ended up scoring 351/9 before bad weather played spoilsport and the game ended early. Nair’s knock came with the help of 22 fours and two gigantic sixes.
The right-hand batter also made 78 against Warwickshire at Birmingham in his debut game for Northamptonshire last week. Talking about the game, Northamptonshire were reeling at 193/7 kudos to Tom Lawes’ four-wicket haul but then Nair and Tom Taylor put together 114 runs for the eighth wicket and took their team to a decent score.

Earlier, the 31-year-old decided to change his base from Karnataka and now he will be playing for Vidarbha in the first-class tournaments. Nair came into the limelight when he scored an unbeaten 303 in Chennai towards the end of 2016 while batting against England.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible journey I've had with the Karnataka State Cricket Association over the last two decades.”
“From the very start of my cricketing career, KSCA has been a guiding light, offering unwavering support that helped shape me into the player I am today”, he added.
Nair reached his 16th first-class century in 184 balls and kept his team’s hope alive. The last time he made a three-figure score was for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy back in February 2022. It was during the game against Jammu and Kashmir when he scored 175.
Karun replaced Sam Whiteman in Northamptonshire who went back to Australia. He has come to play the county after a 532-run campaign at a strike rate of 162.69 in the Maharaja Trophy which is Karnataka’s T20 competition. Northamptonshire will be locking horns against Essex next week in their final championship match next week.
