IPL Auction 2020: Delhi Capitals Bag Windies Power-hitter Hetmyer For Rs 7.75 cr

Windies strokemaker Shimron Heymyer racked up big moolah after he was picked up at Rs 7.75 crore by Delhi Capitals

West Indian attacking strokemaker Shimron Hetmyer joined a select few players in racking up over a million dollars in the Indian Premier League auction held in Kolkata as he fetched  a whooping Rs 7.75 crore from Delhi Capitals at the end of an intense bidding war. Released by Royal Challengers Bangalore after a dismal season with the bat in the 2019 IPL auction, Hetmyer was shortlisted at a base price of INR 50 Lakhs. Rajasthan Royals opened the bidding war at the base price before Kolkata Knight Riders took it to INR 55 lakhs before the former's bid helps Hetmyer breach the INR 1-crore mark. Delhi would hope that the Windies batsman will empower the middle order alongside hard hitting wicket-keeping batsman Rishabh Pant. In the end, it was the Capitals who emerged victoriously in the process roping in Hetmyer for INR 7.75 crores. The left handed Windies powerhitter fared poorly in his debut IPL season after scoring just 90 runs in five matches at 18 an average with just one half-century. Among the other buys, Delhi had earlier roped in Australia's Alex Carey for INR 2.40 crores, England all-rounder Chris Woakes INR 1.5 crores , Jason Roy for INR 1.5 crores.
