IPL 2020, SRH vs KXIP: Warner-Led 'Orange Army' Square Off Against Rahul-Skippered Kings XI Punjab At Dubai
The SRH vs KXIP game is scheduled for a 7:30 pm (IST) start with the toss scheduled to be held at 7:00 (pm).
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will square off against Kings Eleven Punjab (KXIP) in Match 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) later on Thursday evening at the Dubai International Stadium. The SRH vs KXIP game is scheduled for a 7:30 pm (IST) start with the toss scheduled to be held at 7:00 pm (IST).
Both SRH and KXIP come into the match on the back of losing their previous encounters. While SRH lost their last encounter to defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by 34 runs , KXIP succumbed to their third straight defeat of the season with a 10-wicket trouncing by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Both KXIP and SRH Are Heavily Dependent On Their Openers To Fire With The Bat
Both teams seem to be over reliant on their top order and have issues with their middle order not firing on all cylinders in their games. While the KXIP openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have provided the team with consistent start and laid a solid platform, the batsmen to follow in Glen Maxwell, Karun Nair and Sarfaraz Khan haven't delivered the goods. There have been some cameos from Windies Nicholas Pooran but it hasn't been enough for the team to end on a winning note.
SRH have similar woes with a lot of dependence on their lethal opening duo of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. While Kiwi batsman Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey has shown some promises with a few eye catching knocks, the rest of the middle order seems a bit unexperienced and brittle. India Under-19 stars Priyam Garg, Adbul Samad and Abhishek Sharma have played a few cameos but will need to be more consistent with his batting efforts.
Punjab Bowling Has Been Very Expensive At The Death
Bowling has surely been the weaker link of the KXIP franchise right through the tournament so far. With the exception of seamer Mohammad Shami, the rest of the attack in Sheldon Cottrell, M Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi has looked below par especially at the death where they have gone for plenty and lost from winning positions.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Injury A Big Blow To SRH
SRH were dent a major blow with their frontline seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting injured and ruled out of the tournament. While the likes of T Natarajan and Sandeep Sharma have fared pretty well, one of Khaleel Ahmed or will have to step in and fill in the big shoes of Bhuvi. Meanwhile SRH named Prithvi Raj Yarra as replacement for injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Afghan leg spinner Rashid Khan who has got into his groove with some wicket taking spells in the last 2-3 encounters will once again be the trump card with the ball for the 'Orange Army'.
