IPL 2019: Mumbai Indians beat SRH in Super Over, enter playoffs
Needing nine to win in the Super Over, Hardik Pandya hammered Rashid Khan for a six over long off in the first ball and then Kieron Pollard took the side home with three balls to spare.
From conceding a six off the last ball to hitting Rashid for a six off the first ball, Hardik Pandya was at the center of the action once again as Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Super Over to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL at Wankhede stadium on Thursday.
Opting to bat, Sunrisers lethal bowling attack led by pacer Khaleel Ahmed (3-42) made it look that Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first was wrong. Hyderabad bowlers bowled brilliantly to restrict Mumbai Indians to 162 for five in the allotted 20 overs, and then, saw SRH end their innings at the same score. Needing nine runs to win in the Super Over, MI knocked them off in three balls. MI speedster Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the Man of the Match for his phenomenal bowling.
For SRH, Manish Pandey, who scored his third half-century in four innings, ensured that the match goes into the super over by hitting a six off Pandya’s final delivery of the 20th over.
Hyderabad needed 17 runs off the last over and the equation was brought down to seven by the time Hardik braced up to bowl the final delivery. But Manish Pandey (71 not out off 47 balls) carted the all-rounder over long-on for a six to bring the scores level and force a Super Over.Manish Pandey's outstanding 71*(47) https://t.co/85JynncsOp
