IPL 2020, DC vs KXIP: Mohammed Shami Produces Career Best IPL Figures As KXIP Lose Super Over Thriller In Dubai

Shami produced his best bowling figures in the IPL by taking 3 for 15 against Delhi Capitals as his team ended up on the losing side of a Super Over. The seam bowler's previous best figures were 3/21 for KXIP against Mumbai Indians in the last season of the league.

Kings Eleven Punjab might have lost a Super Over thriller to Delhi Capitals in Match 2 of the IPL 13 at Dubai played out on Sunday evening but KXIP did challenge their more fancied opponents to the hilt on the back of some brilliant individual performances. While Mayank Agarwal took Punjab on the brink of a stunning victory with a whirlwind ton towards the fag end of the match, it was their frontline seamer Mohammed Shami who produced a fiery spell of seam bowling to wreck the DC top order and put Punjab in the driver's seat early in the game. Shami produced his best bowling figures in the IPL by taking 3 for 15 against Delhi Capitals in a losing cause. The seam bowler's previous best figures were 3/21 for KXIP against Mumbai Indians in the last season of the league. On a wicket with considerable grass cover, Shami made life tough for the DC openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw as he moved the ball around much to their agony. Shami's relentless line forced Prithvi Shaw to play a forceful pull shot which ended up straight in the hands of Chris Jordan to scalp his first wicket. Shami then had Shimron Hetmyer spoon one to Mayank Agarwal to leave DC reeling at 13-3. After skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant registered a half ton partnership to steady Delhi innings, Shami came back in his second spell to deal another major blow by sending Pant back to the pavilion and once again titlting the balance of the game in his side's favour.
