LIVE: Chahal, Pandya run through SL, India win by 93 runs
Twenty20 is a different ball game and India would look for a smooth transition to the shortest format, having endured a batting disaster in the first one-dayer.
India win by 93 runs
That's it Pandya takes the last wicket. India beat Sri Lanka by 93 runs - their biggest win in terms of runs in the first T20I at Cuttack to go 1-0 up in the three match series.
SL 9 down
After the damage done by spinners, Pandya polishing off the tail. Gets a couple and the Sri Lankan innings countinues to nosedive. They have lost their ninth.
Chahal gets four
A four-fer for Chahal! What a spell from him! In every over he has picked up a wicket, that is exceptional from Yuzi! He sees Perera giving a charge and so he smartly bowls a googly wider that the batsman's reach. Thisara swings across the line and gets beaten. Dhoni behind the stumps is quick to take the bails off and claims a stumping. It's taken upstairs and replays show the Sri Lankan skipper is well short. Can Chahal pick up a 5-fer here?
Kuldeep gets into the act
Kuldeep opens his account as well! Tosses it up around middle, it's the wrong 'un. Shanaka tries to go big down the ground but is undone in the flight. Miscues it high in the air towards long on where Pandya comes sprinting in to take a safe catch. Half the side back in the hut for Sri Lanka.
Chahal on a role
Asela comes and he perishes! This wasn't the cleanest of the takes from MS but India wouldn't mind it at all. Chahal continues to weave his magic, third one for him! He bowls it quicker, it's fuller and around the pads. Gunaratne looks to flick it away but loses his balance while doing so. The ball goes to Dhoni who fumbles but has the presence of mind to keep his gloves low so that the ball ricochets onto the stumps. A wide has been signaled as well. Sri Lanka in dire straits. Chahal also becomes the leading wicket-taker in T20Is in 2017, going past Rashid Khan.
Mathews departs
Caught and bowled! This is superb stuff from Chahal. Mathews was not looking comfortable at all and he chips it staright back to Chahal, who foxed him with a lovely flighted delivery.
Chahal gets Tharanga
Caught down the leg side! Excellent take from Dhoni, he dropped him in the previous over but takes a good one to limit the damage! To be honest, this wasn't a wicket-taking delivery by any means. Chahal bowls it down the leg side, Tharanga looks to sweep it away but all he manages is a tickle and Dhoni is quick to take it to his right behind. Replays show there was a clear edge there.
Unadkat strikes
That is how you make a comeback. Jaydev Unadkat has picked up his first T20I wicket and it is with his potent slower one. Dickwella was looking to go for the big one but he miss times. India have got the early break.
Sri Lankan openers have a tough job in hand. But dew might come to their rescue.
What an end
WOW! Dhoni finishes off in style. What a hit for a six. India have managed to put 180 for 3 batting first.
Pandey the man
Where did that come from? Pandey ramps a waist-high full toss over third man for a six. That is also a no-ball.
Pandey follows it up with thunderous extra-cover drive for another four. India is sure to end on a high.
Rahul falls
BOWLED! Once again the slower delivery. But this time it's Rahul. Sri Lankan captain has got the prized scalp. Rahul was looking to deposit it into the orbit but misses the line completely and it crashes onto his stumps. Rahul departs after a well made 61.
There you go, the crowd erupts because it is MS Dhoni who has made his way into the centre.
Iyer departs
Pradeep strikes. Boy, did Sri Lanka need that! Iyer creates room, tries to slash it over point but the extra bounce and lack of pace brings about his downfall. He gets an edge to keeper Dickwella and India have lost their second wicket.
Fitty for Rahul
Rahul brings up his fifty in just 34-balls. That's his second T20I fifty. India 88 for 1.
Rahul accelerates
Rahul rocks on to the back foot quickly and deposits it into the stands. First six of the match. The stylish right hander has put the foot on the accelerator. The six comes after he had hit two fours in the previous over.
Rahul survives with DRS
Pitching in line, impact in line but wickets missing. So, KL Rahul lives to fight another day. It did look to be straying down the leg with naked eye.
Mathews manages to bring it back in sharply, Rahul gets rooted to he crease and the ball thuds into his front pad. The Umpire raises his finger but Rahul was quick to call for a review.
Iyer begins well
Shreyas starts off from where he had left in the last ODI. Two depth touches for fours gets him going. This boy is here to stay.
Mathews strikes
Slower delivery does the trick for Angelo Mathews and Sri Lanka. Rohit tries to heave it over long on but only manages to get it as far as Chameera at mind-on, who takes a good diving catch. India have lost their first wicket for 38.
First sign of aggression
The dew has already started to affect the spinners here. Dananjaya goes for a couple of boundaries in his second. It was not only becuase of the due though, Rahul and Rohit have got their eye in and they have just started to flex their muscles.
Signs of dew as early as the seocnd over of the match. Now we know exactly why Thisara Perera opted to bowl first.
Dananjaya shares the new ball
Like, just like the third ODI, Akela Danajaya as got the new ball. Remember, he got KL Rahul out twice last time India toured Sri Lanka and he accounted for Rohit Sharma in the last ODI also.
Eventful start
Supreme timing from Rohit Sharma. That was just a touch and it races away through the cover boundary for a four. Rohit Sharma is away and so is India.
The Debutant Vishwa Fernando will start the proceedings for Sri Lanka. Here we go... Full toss and Rohit gets a thickish outside edge to thrid man. Good fielding stops it from going over the ropes.
The players are out in the centre, the mobile torches are on, Cuttack is the place to be now if you are cricket fan.
Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella(w), Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera(c), Dasun Shanaka, Dushmantha Chameera, Akila Dananjaya, Vishwa Fernando, Nuwan Pradeep
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Lokesh Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni(w), Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Jaydev Unadkat, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Team News: So here's some news... Jaydev Unadkat has been given a nod ahead of Basil Thampi. KL Rahul would open for India in place of Shikhar Dhawan, who has been rested.
Left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando will make his T20I debut for Sri Lanka.
TOSS: Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to field first at Cuttack.
The Test series in pocket, India, without inspirational skipper Virat Kohli, hardly broke a sweat to clinch the one- day series 2-1 and Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to polish off the T20I series on a perfect note.
Sri Lanka have been no match to India barring their one- off spectacular bowling effort in Dharmasala in the opening ODI.
After India bounced back in Mohali, Sri Lanka had their best chance in Visakhapatnam but they collapsed from 136/1 to be bundled out for 215.
A resilient India quickly got into the act after an inspirational stumping by MS Dhoni. This was followed by the spin twin of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal running through the Lankan batting to claim three wickets each.
However, Twenty20 is a different ball game and India would look for a smooth transition to the shortest format, having endured a batting disaster in the first one-dayer.
India do not have happy memories of the solitary T20I at the Barabati Stadium despite the fact that they lead Sri Lanka 7-4 on head-to-head count and are yet to lose against them in the last four outings.
India's batting will heavily rely on skipper Sharma, who will have KL Rahul for company at the top. The bowling department has realtively new look with the likes of Bhuvenshwar Kumar not in the mix.
