ODI World Cup 2023: Pakistan To Send Security Delegation To India To Inspect Their Venues

Narendra Modi Stadium -- world's largest cricket stadium -- in Ahmedabad was locked in for blockbuster IND vs PAK World Cup match, set to be played on 15th October (Sunday).

India vs Pakistan: For the first time ever in the history of ODI World Cups, India will host the tournament without collaborating with another team. The 2023 edition of ODI World Cup will kickoff from October 5 onwards and will be played across 12 venues before the final takes place at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium on 19th November. ODI World Cup 2023 schedule deadlock finally got over on June 27 (Tuesday). Initially, there were delays in schedule announcement as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had objected to play against India in Ahmedabad.

Citing political reasons, Pakistan wanted India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 match to be shifted to Kolkata, Chennai or Bangalore but despite their objections, Narendra Modi Stadium -- world's largest cricket stadium -- in Ahmedabad was locked in for blockbuster IND vs PAK World Cup match, set to be played on 15th October (Sunday). The match is highly important for ICC and BCCI as the venue can host a crowd of 1,30,000.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket team has not yet been cleared by their government to arrive in India for 2023 ODI World Cup. As per reported by Sportstar, Pakistan Cricket Board will send a security delegation to inspect their venue, which is a standard practice. If IND vs PAK match takes place in October, Pakistan and India will lock horns in a bilateral series for the first time since 2012/13.

"The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup. Before any tour to India, it is standard practice for the cricket board to seek permission from the government which normally sends a delegation to India," the official said as quoted by Sportstar.

"The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans, and media, who will go for the tournament. The PCB will share the report with the ICC and BCC/if the delegation has any concerns," he added.
